5 out of 5 stars Amazingly fun and inspirational book !!   July 29, 2007
You already love Troma movies for the zany gore, comedy and special effects; with this awesome book you'll also gain an appreciation and admiration for Lloyd Kaufman's style of filmmaking, special effects, and low budget films in general. It's a really great read because it's ultimately as inspiring as it is entertaining!

5 out of 5 stars I just got it   July 20, 2007

I just picked this book up (from the man himself, Mr. Lloyd Kaufman... and I got it signed too!), so I haven't had time to read through it. But skimming through pages, I can already tell that it's gonna be a 5 star book. The writing style is in the same vein as "Make Your Own Damn Movie" (which I believe is available through amazon.com here, too. Wow!), and that book was an amazing piece of both literature, and teaching tool.

So, how does one review a book they haven't read yet? Well... it's not very easy. But I will tell you this... the cover is glossy. Even if that which is contained within isn't good, I can at least drop copious amounts of drugs and pretend to "speak" with shiny Lloyd Kaufman. And women! There are women on the cover too! And how can we forget that both Toxie, and Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D. are featured as well.

Okay, while not a really great review (which like I said, I haven't read it yet), this should bring attention to the fact that this book is out there, and that it should be picked up by anybody who enjoys a good giggle or two, and enjoys movies put out there by people who actually seem to care about making movies that are enjoyable.

Keep it up, Lloyd. I'm gonna read it as soon as the drugs leave my system, and I stop speaking with your shiny head on a platter on the cover.

Chris (not Lynne, as stated above)

5 out of 5 stars READ THIS BOOK NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!   June 27, 2007

Listen i'm gonna keep this short, sweet, and to the point. This is an awesome book for anyone looking to fulfill their dreams of creating indie film, buy it and find out why.Don't be fooled by the negative reviews posted here some people are just already too brainwashed by mainstream nonsense to grasp Troma and the beauty of their independent films.I was privileged to meet Lloyd Kaufman last week at The Texas Frightmare Weekend in Dallas, and all I can say is that he is a genuinely great man who has transformed his dream into something we can all benefit from.Support independent film and support Troma Studios.

Read the book. It's hilarious. Met Loyd Kaufman at horror convention and he's way too cool for us regular chumps. Read his book, and maybe you too can be cool.

5 out of 5 stars Support Troma!   March 19, 2007

It makes me sad that there is not more support for the films that Troma puts out. This book gives wonderful insight into all the hard work they go through in order to make films for us. If you want to get a good look at film making process through the eyes of people who are there- then take the time to read this book. Sure the films are low budget but that does not mean they are any less of a film. In my opinion, low budget is the true "Hollywood"- most of the blockbuster films have gotten away from what it really means to make movies. Read this book- support Troma, support the lost art of film making!!
